Hannah Rachel Cole is a scholar of environmental humanities and Caribbean literature. Her current book project examines representations of plant life in Caribbean literature in the aftermath of the plantation system. She serves as co-PI of the More-Than-Humanities Laboratory, a cluster of The Humanities Institute. She holds a B.A. from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Cornell University. Before joining UCSC, she taught in Harvard University’s History & Literature program and served as Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University’s Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration and the Yale Environmental Humanities Program.
